Organisational learning & continuous improvement
Developing organisational learning at different levels of cultural maturity is likely to focus on the following:
At Levels 1, 2 - main focus is on ensuring basic systems for accident/incident/near miss reporting are appropriate
At Level 2, 3 - likely to be 2 main focuses:
(i) Addressing any perceptions of a “blame culture” – any perceptions of blame will tend to retard further safety culture development;
(ii) Promoting near miss & defect reporting and using to drive many safety improvements.
At Levels 3, 4, 5 - progressively starting to increase the amount and ways of sharing and learning across the organisation.
